At Bonnie Braids, it’s always a good hair day! From colourful Mermaid Braids for your holidays, or the life skill of being able to do a Dutch Braid, we are all about the Hassle Free Hairstyles.
We believe everyone should have access to learn the life skill of Braiding hair. It’s not just for the Mums! Dads, Aunties, Uncles, Friends, Grannies and Grandads can all learn this skill. Through colourful synthetic hair, kids and adults alike can use different Braid Styles to express themselves and discover their inner happiness. AND they can leave the hairbrush in the drawer for a week! At Bonnie Braids, your smiles are our greatest triumphs!
Meet Sarah!
Hey, I’m Sarah, the founder and owner of Bonnie Braids. I’m a mum to 2 girls and I love to Braid hair.
Back in October 2022 I had this mad idea to try and weave red synthetic hair into the girls Braids for Halloween. I have been Braiding hair for as long as I can remember! I have fond memories of me and my pal sitting in the lunch line together at school when we were 8, taking it in turns to practice Dutch and French Braids. I was the go-to girl at school for Dance and Gymnastic hairstyles. And when my daughters arrived, I was Braiding their hair as soon as it was long enough.
Fast forward to when the girls were 8 and 6, and I wanted them to have something different for their halloween outfits. I spent 4 hours weaving purple, red and yellow synthetic hair into their braids following a very bad YouTube tutorial, and finally produced my first Mermaid Braid style. After A LOT more practice, on my girls and their friends, I was ready. I launched the business from my kitchen table, 1 week before Halloween, with only 5 packets of coloured hair.
Over the years I have been honing my skill, seeing improvement week on week. It brings me so much joy to see all the smiling faces on those who I have Braided and those I have taught. Watch this space for more Braiding adventures to come!
